Holy but Heated: Too Spicy for The Group Chat; Too Real to Ignore | Christian Girls + Crystals + Horoscopes & The Enneagram

Stop scrolling—because today we’re diving headfirst into crystals, horoscopes, and the Enneagram—yep, all three of those trendy things your group chat swears are “totally harmless,” the ones everyone’s posting about like it’s a personality sport, but secretly leave you wondering, “Wait… does God even see this? Am I allowed?”

If you’ve ever been scrolling TikTok, laughing at a crystal healing hack, or wondering why everyone suddenly knows their Enneagram type before lunch, only to pause mid-scroll and think, “Hold up… am I crossing a line here?”—girl, grab your headphones, your Bible app, and maybe a snack, because this episode is about to get messy, spicy, and oh-so real.

Welcome back to FR, Let’s Talk!

If you’ve been with us before, you know that Season 2 has been following the life of Joseph—twists, turns, betrayals, dreams, and God-sized moments.

But recently, the Holy Spirit nudged me hard: stop side-stepping the messy, controversial stuff.

Stop avoiding the topics everyone whispers about or laughs off.

I prayed about it, and honestly?

God made it abundantly clear that we needed to add a new segment this season—a spicy, no-holds-barred segment where we tackle the hard things, the eyebrow-raising things, the Holy but Heated things.

That’s right, babes.

Welcome to Holy but Heated: Too Spicy for the Group Chat; Too Real to Ignore! 🔥

This is the space where we unpack the topics that make Christians squirm, where we get honest about culturally trendy lifestyles, and where we actually bring Scripture into the conversation—without making it boring or judgmental.

And today’s “Holy but Heated” topic is a big one: well actually…a HUGE one!

Can Christians use crystals, horoscopes, or the Enneagram?

So, let’s begin by breaking down what these are, why people are obsessed with them, and what the Bible actually says about all of it. Because I’m guessing so many of you are like, “Wait… what even is the Enneagram?”

First up on the list… CRYSTALS.

  • You’ve seen them everywhere.

  • Tiny sparkly rocks claiming to have “energy” that can heal your feelings, attract love, or even protect you from bad vibes.

  • It’s trendy, it’s aesthetic, it’s everywhere.

  • But here’s where it gets tricky: crystals are often tied to spiritual or mystical beliefs outside of Jesus.

  • Next, Horoscopes.

  • Maybe you check your daily horoscope for fun, or maybe your friends are obsessed with zodiac signs.

  • The problem? Astrology is about trying to predict the future or understand yourself based on stars—stuff the Bible explicitly warns us about.

  • And finally, The Enneagram. The Enneagram is basically a personality test that divides people into nine different types and is super popular in Christian circles.

  • And honestly, it’s fun.

  • But some people take it as gospel, or even a spiritual lens, instead of a tool—and that’s where the line gets blurry.

So now that we know what these are, let’s talk about why these things are controversial! The truth is, these are all culturally acceptable, they’re all “trendy,” and they all claim to give you insight, control, or power outside of God. But that’s precisely the line we can’t cross without asking… what does Scripture actually say about it?!

Well, I am SO GLAD YOU ASKED!

Alright girls, let’s get heavy for a sec and talk Bible truth. Because here’s the thing—while crystals, horoscopes, and the Enneagram might seem harmless, fun, or just “a little self-help vibe,” the Bible actually has some pretty clear warnings about practices like these. The Word doesn’t sugarcoat it: trying to predict the future, manipulate outcomes, or tap into spiritual forces outside of God? That’s a no-go. And honestly, if we skip over this, we risk giving something other than God a place of authority in our lives—even if it’s trendy or “just for fun.”

So let’s break it down with some Scripture and see how this applies to our culture today:

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says, “Let no one be found among you who… practices divination, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft… for anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.” Translation: God is very clear—trying to predict the future, control outcomes, or connect with spiritual powers outside of Him is not just risky, it’s detestable.

Think about it: when someone checks a crystal for “energy guidance” or reads their horoscope to see if their crush likes them back, that’s essentially leaning on something other than God to control life. The Bible calls that out for a reason—He wants us to trust Him as the ultimate guide.

Next up, Isaiah 8:19 says, “When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists… should not a people inquire of their God?” Boom. God’s asking: why would you go to a crystal, a zodiac sign, or a personality test when you have a living God who knows your heart, your future, and your purpose? These tools might seem like a shortcut, but they’re actually a detour

from the best guidance ever—Jesus.

Finally, 1 Corinthians 10:31 gives us this nugget: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” That means even things that feel small, fun, or harmless need to pass the “Does this honor God?” test. That cute little crystal on your desk? That trendy enneagram meme? That horoscope that says “love is coming your way”? If it starts influencing your choices, your decisions, or your trust more than God does, it’s time to rethink it.

Here’s the bottom line, babes: this isn’t about shaming anyone. You can still think something is aesthetic, fun, or helpful for self-reflection. But God wants us to be careful about where we place our trust. If a crystal, horoscope, or personality test starts dictating your actions, your emotions, or your future plans—even a little—that’s a red flag. Your faith, your decisions, your heart? That belongs fully to Him.

Okay, girls, now let’s bring this down from Bible mode to real life. Because I know what you’re thinking: “Sure, Kaase, that all sounds great in theory, but what does that actually look like when I’m hanging with my friends?”

Picture this: you’re at a sleepover—PJs, popcorn, TikTok marathons—the whole vibe. And suddenly, someone pulls out a little bag of crystals, or opens up an app to read everyone’s horoscopes, or starts doing the Enneagram quiz to “figure out your type.”

Your first thought might be: “Wait… can I even be here for this without looking weird or judgmental?” Or worse, “Am I bad if I don’t join in?”

Here’s the trick: you don’t have to shame your friends or act like you’re better than them. That’s not the vibe. You can still honor God AND be a good friend.

Step one: Set a boundary internally first. Decide, “I’m not going to let this guide my choices or my trust.” You don’t need to lecture anyone; it’s about your heart, not their perfection.

Step two: Shift the focus. Instead of critiquing the activity, you can pivot the conversation. For example:

  • Friend: “Ooh, let’s see what our crystals say!”

  • You: “Haha, that’s fun! I’m more into seeing what God has to say for me—like a little devotional game!”

Step three: Be gentle but firm if asked why you’re not participating. You can say something like:

  • “I like keeping my decisions guided by God, and I don’t want anything else telling me what to do. But I’m happy to hang and laugh with you while you try it!”

Step four: Model curiosity without compromise. Ask questions like, “What do you like about this?” or “Does it actually help you?” This keeps the conversation open, non-judgmental, and shows that your faith doesn’t make you boring—it makes you thoughtful and confident.

So here’s the golden nugget: you can have fun, love your friends, and stay true to God’s Word. It’s all about heart over hype, faith over fear, and influence over indulgence.

And here’s the thing, girls—this isn’t just about avoiding crystals, horoscopes, or the Enneagram. It’s bigger than that. It’s about not blending in with every trend just because it’s popular or everyone else is doing it.

You don’t have to scroll, swipe, or “participate” in every trend to fit in. In fact, that’s exactly where God wants to flip the script. He wants you to be the salt and light, the one who adds flavor and brightness in spaces that are starting to taste a little bland or dim.

Remember Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14)? That’s your vibe, babe. You don’t have to shout it or look perfect to do it—you just have to live it, consistently, in the small decisions: choosing faith over fear, wisdom over hype, and God over “just for fun.”

So instead of quietly going along, you can shine quietly but boldly. That might look like:

  • Laughing with friends at a crystal trend, but saying, “I’m good with just trusting God for my future.”

  • Choosing to scroll past a horoscope reel, but still showing love to the friend who posted it.

  • Saying yes to a sleepover, but no to letting a personality test dictate your choices.

Being salt and light isn’t about being a know-it-all—it’s about being a presence that points people to Jesus, naturally, consistently, and with love.

Alright, girl, let’s pull it all together. Today we dove headfirst into crystals, horoscopes, and the Enneagram, exploring why these popular trends aren’t just harmless fun, but actually come with serious spiritual red flags. We saw what the Bible says—straight-up warnings in Deuteronomy, Isaiah, and 1 Corinthians—that God wants our trust, our focus, and our decisions to be rooted in Him, not guided by mystical tools, predictions, or personality hacks.

And we got practical, too: how to navigate real-life scenarios like sleepovers, group chats, and social media without shaming anyone, but also without compromising your faith. You learned that being a Christian in today’s trend-driven world isn’t about hiding in the corner—it’s about shining as salt and light, being a city on a hill, and pointing others to Jesus by the way you live, laugh, and love in your everyday moments.

So here’s your challenge this week, babes: notice the trends around you, the “just for fun” stuff that might feel tempting, and ask yourself—does this honor God, or am I letting something else take His place? Shine where you are, love your friends well, and let your faith be bold, not boring. Share this episode with your group chat, slide over to www.frletstalk.com to send in your questions (we seriously can’t do this without you), and drop a review if this hit your heart.

And until next time, keep it holy, keep it heated, and keep letting Jesus lead the vibe.
