Sunkissed + Sanctified | Memo 11 You're Not "Too Young" For God to Use You

I was thinking this morning about the lie we’ve all been told that being a "Christian teen" is just a waiting room. There’s this narrative that you’re just practicing for when you’re actually an adult and can do "real" things for the Kingdom. But if you think God is waiting for you to have a degree or a mortgage before He starts using you as a weapon for His glory, you’re being scammed.

Welcome back. Today we are talking about Kingdom Authority. I’m not talking about "youth group" vibes; I’m talking about being a literal spiritual powerhouse right now, in your current zip code. You aren't "the church of tomorrow." You are the church today. And it’s time we started acting like it.

The Download 

There is a specific kind of intellectual gaslighting that happens to your generation. The world tells you that you’re too young to have real influence, but old enough to be marketed to. You’re told you’re "the future," which is basically just a polite way of saying "stay quiet in the present." But when I look at the Word, I see that God has a massive obsession with using the people that society overlooks. He used a shepherd boy to take down a giant that an entire army of "qualified" men was terrified of. He used a teenage girl in a forgotten town to carry the literal Savior of the world.

Your youth isn't a season of "spiritual JV." It’s actually a strategic advantage. You have access to spaces and conversations that I will never touch. You see the brokenness and the "searching" of your peers in a way that is raw and real. If God put you in your specific school and your specific friend group, He didn't do it so you could just "survive" until graduation. He did it because you are a specialized agent for His grace. To think you’re "too young" is actually a form of spiritual pride—it’s saying that God’s power is limited by your age. The Holy Spirit doesn't have an age limit. He is just as alive in you as He is in someone who has been walking with Him for fifty years.

The Truth Check 

Let’s hit the Truth Check. 1 Timothy 4:12 says: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Paul is writing this to Timothy, a young leader in a city full of skeptics. And notice, Paul doesn't tell him, "Hey, just try to be nice and wait until they respect you." He says, "SET THE EXAMPLE." That word in Greek is typos, and it means to be a "living blueprint."

You are called to be the blueprint of what it looks like to follow Jesus in 2026. While everyone else is following the "pattern of this world"—the chasing of clout, the shifting morals, the performative living—you are called to be the standard. You set the tone for the conversation. You set the tone for how the "outsider" is treated. Being "young" isn't an excuse to stay spiritualy small; it’s a mandate to be exceptionally bold.

The Summer Move 

So here is your Summer Move. This week, I want you to stop asking God to "use you someday" and start asking, "God, what is the 'adult-sized' assignment You have for me today?" Maybe that’s initiating a hard, healing conversation. Maybe it’s being the first one to stop a gossip session in its tracks. Do one thing this week that feels "beyond your age." Own your authority. You were born for a time such as this.
