Sunkissed + Sanctified | Memo 02 "Later" is a Lie

HI HI HI ALL MY SUNSHINE CUTIES!

Okay welcome back to Sun-kissed + Sanctified: Summer Voice Memos.

Your twice-a-week little big sister drop where we talk about what God is actually teaching us in real life — not the polished version, the real version.

If you’re new from Tuesday’s drop, here’s the rhythm:

Quick download.

A real life moment.

A truth check from scripture.

And then one Summer Move so we actually live it out.

Short. Punchy. A little chaotic in the best way. And hopefully the thing you needed to hear today.

Okay girls.

Here’s today’s download!

One of the sneakiest lies the enemy tells Christian girls is this:

“I’ll get serious about God later.”

Later when life slows down.

Later when you feel more motivated.

Later when you’re older.

Later when your faith feels more natural.

But here’s the thing nobody realizes at first:

Later is where spiritual growth goes to die.

Because “later” almost never shows up!

Okay so here’s the moment that made me think about this.

I was talking with a girl recently and she said something super honest that I actually think a lot of girls feel.

She was like:

“I love God… I just feel like I’ll probably take my faith more seriously when I’m older.”

Like once life is more settled.

Once she’s out of school.

Once she’s more mature.

And I get why that feels logical.

Because right now life feels busy and fun and social and full of distractions and summer energy and group chats and plans and random adventures.

And sometimes faith can feel like something you’ll focus on once life calms down.

But the Holy Spirit immediately nudged this thought into my mind:

Life doesn’t magically become less distracting later.

If anything… it becomes more.

More responsibilities.

More pressure.

More noise.

And the habits you build now are usually the ones you carry with you later.

So if God is always the thing you push to “later”… Later will look exactly the same.

And that’s actually why the Bible says something really interesting.

Ecclesiastes 12:1 says:

“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth.”

Not after youth.

During it.

Why?

Because youth is when your heart is still soft.

Your faith can still become a foundation.

Your habits are still being formed.

God doesn’t want to just become important to you someday.

He wants to walk with you right now.

In your teenage years.

In your summer nights.

In your friendships.

In your decisions.

Not because He’s trying to take fun away from you.

But because the earlier you build a life with Him… the stronger everything else in your life becomes.

Waiting to pursue God never makes faith easier. But starting now? That changes the trajectory of your whole life!

Okay girls. The Summer Move.

This week I want you to ask yourself one honest question:

“Where do I keep telling God ‘later’?”

Maybe it’s:

“I’ll read my Bible later.”

“I’ll pray later.”

“I’ll work on that attitude later.”

“I’ll deal with that conviction later.”

Pick one small thing you’ve been pushing off spiritually…

…and do it today instead of later.

Five minutes with God.

That’s it.

Because girls who stop delaying their faith?

They’re the ones who actually grow.

Okay love… take this and own it.
