Sunkissed + Sanctified | Memo 16 The Power of a Girl Who Knows God

There is a massive difference between a girl who "knows about" God and a girl who actually knows her God. One of them is easily shaken by a bad day or a mean comment; the other is an unmovable force. One of them seeks confidence from her outfit or her "likes"; the other has a confidence anchored in the Eternal.

As we get closer to that first day of school, there’s this huge temptation to just "slip back" into the crowd. We think, "Okay, I’ve grown, I’ve changed, and now I just want to go back and be chill. I don't want to make waves." But let’s be intellectually honest for a second: you cannot be "the light of the world" if you are constantly trying to dim your bulb just so you don't make the people around you uncomfortable.

Welcome back. Today we are talking about The Power of Spiritual Confidence and Kingdom Leadership. We’re moving out of the summer bubble and into the real world where your faith will be tested. I want you to walk onto that campus knowing exactly whose you are, what you’re capable of, and the responsibility that comes with your "glow."

The Download

True confidence isn't about being loud or "perfect." It’s an internal "knowing"—the intellectual and spiritual certainty that you are backed by the Creator of the universe. When you know your God, you don't have to "perform" for people. Think about the girls who really change things in your grade. It’s rarely the ones who are just "popular." It’s the ones who are steady. That kind of steadiness only comes from spending time in the Presence.

Most people spend their lives being thermometers. They just reflect the temperature of the room they’re in. If the group chat is gossipy, they get cold. If the hallway is full of drama, they get frantic. But God is calling you to be a thermostat. A thermostat doesn't just "read" the temperature; it sets the temperature.

This summer, God has been adjusting your internal setting. He’s been raising your standard of what is acceptable and true. When you walk back into those classrooms or onto that bus, the temptation will be to "acclimate" to the lower temperature around you. You’ll feel the pressure to be less "intense" or more "like everyone else." But if you "normal" yourself down, you are robbing the girls in your grade of the light they actually need to see. You don't have to be loud to be a leader, but you do have to be consistent. Your power isn't in your "vibe"; it’s in your Position. You are a daughter of the King. Start acting like you have the backing of the Kingdom.

The Truth Check

We’re standing on two powerhouse scriptures today. First, Daniel 11:32:

“The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”

Look at that word "exploits." It means bold actions. It means doing things that are bigger than you. But the "doing" only happens after the "knowing." This whole summer has been about one thing: Increasing your "know." A girl who knows God is dangerous to the enemy’s plans. You are an "exploit" waiting to happen.

Then, we have the commission in Matthew 5:14-16:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden... Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Jesus is making a statement of fact: You ARE the light. It’s not a suggestion; it’s your identity. The only way you don't give light is if you intentionally hide it under a "bowl" of people-pleasing or insecurity. Why do we hide it? Because we’re afraid of being labeled "the church girl" or being seen as "weird." But the lamp gives light to everyone in the house. Your growth was never meant to be a secret. When you refuse to hide, you give every other girl in your grade permission to look for the truth, too.

The Summer Move

This week, I want you to practice two things as you prepare to launch:

  1. The Spiritual Power Walk: Before you walk into a store, a hangout, or a practice, pray this: "God, I know You, and I know You are with me. Let me be strong today." Remind yourself of your backing. Walk like you’ve been sanctified, because you have.

  2. The Light-Bearer Habit: Decide right now what you are not going to hide. Maybe it’s being the person who refuses to talk bad about the girl everyone is picking on. Maybe it’s being bold enough to invite someone to youth group.

Pick one area where you are going to be a thermostat. When the conversation turns cold or mean, you’re the one who brings the warmth. Don't just show up this fall—show up and set the temperature. You were built to shine.
