EPISODE 8: Clarity Isn’t Promised, Heavenly Vibes & God’s Omniscience

Updated: May 2

In Genesis 1:1, we start with, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Cool, right?

But wait one second—if we stop right there, we’re all going to have a million questions.

Like, who is this God?

Why did He make everything?

And what in the world does "the beginning" even mean?

These are such good questions, and guess what?

Some of them the Bible answers, but some? It doesnʼt.

Yeah, it just leaves us hanging. It’s almost like the Bible isnʼt exclusively concerned with giving us all the answers—it’s more focused on revealing who God is - his character.

Now, I get it. That can be super frustrating if you’re like, “Wait, I just want all the deets!”

Trust me, I’ve been there.

I grew up in church and had the Bible around forever, but for a long time, I was totally reading it the wrong way. I thought it was all about me—like, what do I do? Which rules do I follow? What’s the easiest way to “get it right?”

I was trying to check all the boxes, and girl, that was so exhausting.

But here’s the real tea: the Bible isn’t about us at all.

It’s actually a love story between you and the Creator of the entire universe. I know—sounds wild, right?

But God created YOU on purpose, and He’s totally invited you to be a part of this epic story. And hey, the fact that you’re listening to this podcast right now? Pretty sure that’s part of His plan. He’s like, “Hey, I want you to hear this podcast and think about how you’re connected to the Bible and your relationship with it.”

So, why am I even bringing this up?

What does my relationship with the Bible have to do with a Q&A podcast?

Well, for starters, this is exactly that.

An anonymous place where tween/teen girls can come and ask ALL their questions.

And I have never been more convinced than now that you guys NEED THIS SPACE.

A place JUST FOR YOU.

But I also want to say this - I don’t have all the answers.

I just donʼt.

While I do have the Bible and lean into that for every question I am asked, I am still human and flawed.

And Iʼm just not going to get it right 100% of the time.

AND, I’m definitely not here to just “talk at you” like I know it all.

Instead, I want to invite you into this story that’s already unfolding, where you get to ask all your questions, dive deep with me, and explore the Bible together.

Like, let’s make this a journey, not a quiz.

You know what I mean?

So, I had coffee with one of my absolute favorite people on Thursday, and while we started chatting about youth ministry stuff, we quickly got into something super important: how teens today are soaking up information.

Like, it’s wild how curious you all are! And I love that about you. So much.

You’re always asking questions and trying to find answers, and I’m here for it. But here’s the thing we realized—people are giving you answers without letting you actually explore it yourself. Even if they point you to the Bible, it’s like, “Here’s the answer, now move on.”

But simply giving you the answers, and suggesting you move on with answer in hand, isnʼt doing you any favors. In fact, itʼs actually stunting your curiosity. Killing your seeking. Which is exactly opposite of what God wants you to do. Let me give you a real life example to help bring my point home.

Okay, imagine you’re working on a school project, let’s say it’s about a famous historical figure, like Amelia Earhart.

Now, you could just ask your teacher for the facts, and she could hand you the paper with all the answers on it.

You’d know Amelia’s birthdate, where she grew up, and the dates of her big achievements.

Cool, right?

But how much of that would stick in your brain after the project is over? Probably not a lot.

Now, let’s flip it.

Instead of just getting the answers handed to you, your teacher asks you to dig a little deeper. She gives you a few resources but says, “Go and find out for yourself. Look up articles, watch videos, talk to someone who knows about her life, and find out what made her so special.”

Now you’re exploring.

You’re asking questions, finding new answers, and even getting sidetracked by cool facts you didn’t expect.

As you search for answers, you start connecting the dots: how Amelia’s courage connected with her determination, how her struggles shaped her success, and how she was inspired by other explorers.

You might even start thinking about how her journey applies to your own life. You’re not just memorizing facts—you’re understanding them in a whole new way.

That’s how it works with your faith, too.

Sure, people can tell you the answers, like pointing to Bible verses or giving you life advice, but when you go through the process of seeking, when you ask questions, dig into the Bible for yourself, and wrestle with the answers, it’s way more meaningful.

You learn not just the answer, but why it matters in your life and how it’s connected to your own journey.

God doesn’t want to just hand you all the answers. He wants you to seek and explore, to grow your curiosity, and to discover deeper truths that will last. He knows that when you go on the search, the answers you find will stick with you way longer.

Just like Amelia Earhart’s story won’t just be a set of facts—it’ll become something you feel and understand—so will the lessons and truths you uncover in your faith.

The same is true for this podcast and this ministry at large.

I want to team up with you and create a safe space where you can ask all the questions. But then, let’s dive in together and uncover the answers to those questions that just won’t quit!

I am all about the exploration—like, the real digging, the searching, and the journey to find the answers. The more YOU explore, the more YOU get to own your faith. Not just the one someone hands you, but YOUR personal connection with God.

I mean, that’s the goal, right?

So, here’s the deal with this podcast: it’s all about your questions and my answers from the Bible. BUT (and this is a big but), I want to challenge you to do more than just get the answers.

I want us to explore those questions together.

I’m not just here to throw answers your way.

I’m here to leave you with even more questions that’ll keep you digging deeper into your faith.

And, one more thing.

This isnʼt always going to be pretty. Where we ask the question, answer it, and tie it all up with a pretty little bow.

If all I ever do is give you the soft, comfortable answers, I’m kind of letting you down. Like, if I just hand you answers that I think are “safe” or “fragile,” you’ll never really grow in your faith.

The Bible isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, babe. People die, people mess up big time, some people even take their own life, and still, others willingly and blatantly walk away from God over and over again. Some have affairs and cheat on their wives and yeah, some people get swallowed by fish. It's not all pretty or easy.

So if all I ever do it give you an answer I think you can handle, you will never take your faith to the next level. And that is the exact opposite of iron sharpening iron.We need to go deeper, even when it gets messy. The answers might not always make sense or feel neat—they might even leave you more confused.

But that’s the point!

God wants us to wrestle with those questions and keep exploring. And I’m so down for that! So, don’t hold back—drop your questions, leave comments, and let’s grow together.

Alright letʼs get messy! Question number one.

Bella wrote in yesterday and asked, “I thought that the more I read Godʼs word, the more I prayed and surrendered things to Him, the clearer things would be. Like, I would know what to do and what not to do, what sport to play, what class to take, what friends to hang out with, but the truth is, despite that, nothing feels clear. Not even a little bit.”

Dang, this is such an honest and real question and I just appreciate how Bella is owning up to digging into Godʼs word and seeking Him more, but equally honest that she isnʼt seeing any huge revelations or insights!

Ok, I want to first begin by saying something ridiculously simple.

I think there is a huge misconception around our deepening faith.

I think that we think the deeper our faith gets with God - for example - taking quiet time, singing praise and worship music, praying fervently, the clearer the path forward will be.

But thatʼs exactly what it is - a huge misconception.

And let me show you why.

Consider this. The LACK or absence of clarity or the clear path ahead, is the VERY thing that keeps us surrendered and relying on God, isnʼt it? Think about it. If God gave us a clear picture or clear path forward, we wouldnʼt NEED him anymore, would we?

We would have it all figured out, and our need for HIM becomes obsolete. In contrast, when the path isn’t clear, we remain surrendered to his guidance and wisdom, donʼt we?

I think we have to begin to change our understanding or lens or expectation or even just our perspective.

Clarity is never promised.

BUT, the more we take time with him, the more we trust him, the fewer DETAILS we will need.

Doesnʼt that make sense too?

Yes, our humanity craves the clear path AND all the tiny details, but the absence of clarity keeps us submitted to Him and depending on Him in our life.

And when we actually come to a place of full surrender and submission that demonstrates that our trust IN HIM supersedes the need for all the tiny details, I think that is the very moment that we begin to sense more clarity than ever before.

Think about it, when you deeply trust someone, you just donʼt need all the details.

So your friend asks if you want to go to a birthday party with her. If you trust her, you just accept the invitation, the tiny details donʼt really matter.

BUT, if youʼre friend isnʼt super trustworthy, and she hasnʼt put in time proving herself honest, you will respond with all sorts of clarifying questions, wonʼt you?

Who will be there? How many people? Who will drive us? What time does it start? What time does it end? What will we do? Who will I know?

The absence of trust IN her makes you ask more questions and really get to the bottom of the tiniest detail.

So in short, I think what I am trying to say and then I will turn to scripture to help drive my point home, but God wants relationship. That is what He desires more than anything.

It isnʼt about WHAT He can do for us or give us. It is about relationship with us and transformation IN us.

If He just gave us completely clarity, we wouldnʼt need him! The absence of clarity is what keeps us in step with our Maker.

Now, here are a few Bible verses that might speak to your heart about why God does things this way:

1. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Why it’s helpful: Sometimes, God doesn’t show us the entire picture because He wants us to trust Him, not just in the easy moments, but in the confusing, unclear ones too. It’s easy to trust when we see the road ahead, but true faith is trusting even when we don’t see the full picture. He wants us to rely on Him and not lean on our own understanding.

2. Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Why it’s helpful: God’s plan for you is WAY bigger than what you can see right now. We only understand things from our limited perspective, but God sees the bigger picture. Sometimes He doesn’t give us clarity all at once because His plans are so much higher than ours, and we need to trust that He knows what He’s doing. Also, our finite minds just werenʼt built for that level of understanding, period.

3. James 1:5 (NIV)

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

Why it’s helpful: This is a super cool promise from God. He’s not leaving you hanging! He does want to give you wisdom. But the key is: ask Him. Sometimes we’re waiting for things to magically get clear on their own, but God says, “Hey, I’ll show you! Just keep coming to me.”

It’s all about staying in relationship with Him, talking to Him, asking questions, and trusting He’ll answer in His time.

4. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

"For we live by faith, not by sight."

Why it’s helpful: Living by faith means we don’t always know exactly where we’re going, but we trust God with each step. If He showed us everything right away, we wouldn’t need to have faith! But life is a journey, and God’s plan unfolds as we take steps with Him, trusting He’ll lead us in the right direction.

5. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

Why it’s helpful: God is a good Father, and He has amazing plans for your life! The thing is, His plans often take time to unfold. God could show us everything, but if He did, we wouldn’t have the chance to walk with Him, grow in our relationship with Him, and rely on His wisdom. It’s like He’s creating a beautiful story for you, and He wants you to be a part of every chapter.

6. Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Why it’s helpful: God knows exactly what you need, even if you’re unsure. When we seek Him first — focusing on building that relationship with Him — He promises to take care of the rest. The answers may not always come when you expect, but as you stay connected to Him, He will guide you in the right direction.

7. Romans 8:28 (NIV)

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."

Why it’s helpful: Even when things feel unclear, we can rest in knowing that God is always working things out for our good. Even the struggles — they have a purpose in His perfect plan for you. Sometimes the process is just as important as the destination, because it’s shaping you and strengthening your relationship with Him.

The BIG Picture:

Remember, God’s not just looking for you to follow a set of rules or find the perfect answers. He’s inviting you into a relationship with Him where He leads, guides, and speaks to you.

The more you grow in your relationship with God, the more clarity will come—step by step. But if we had everything figured out right away, we’d miss out on the adventure of walking with Him. Simple as that.

So don’t stress if things feel unclear right now. Heʼs got this!

Alright, jumping into question number two. Now question number two comes from sweet girl, Delilah and shoot, itʼs a great question!

Definitely a question that I had to spend some time on. Alright, Delilah asks, “Does everyone have a place in heaven like a little town or a city or something?”

(I mean, who wouldn't want a cute little spot to call their own, right?)

First off, let’s be real — the Bible gives us a sneak peek of heaven, but not all the details. It's like getting a preview trailer for an amazing movie — you know it's going to be incredible, but there are still some surprises waiting for us!

Here’s what we do know:

  • Heaven is BEAUTIFUL beyond anything we can imagine: Revelation 21:18-21 describes heaven as a city with streets of gold, gates of pearls, and foundations made of precious stones. Sounds like the ultimate dream town, right? But it’s way beyond what we can picture.

  • Jesus is preparing a place for you: In John 14:2-3, Jesus tells us He’s going to prepare a place for us in His Father’s house, where there’s plenty of room. It's like having a VIP spot with your name on it. So yes, there’s a space for YOU! And yes, Delilah, for you too!

  • It’s a place with no more pain or tears: Revelation 21:4 says that in heaven, there’s no more crying, pain, or suffering. It's all joy, peace, and pure love. Heaven is where everything is made right, where we’re fully loved, and where God’s glory fills the space.

It’s not about “stuff,” but being with God forever!

Even though we get some imagery of a city or a mansion, what really makes heaven awesome is the fact that it’s where we get to live with God — no distractions, no distance. Just pure connection, love, and light.

But here’s the thing — our brains can’t fully wrap around the perfection and awesomeness of heaven.

And also, itʼs just not entirely clear. And if youʼre asking me, I personally think that God does this for a reason.

Itʼs almost like refraining from good spoiler alert. If He gave us ALL the details now, what more would we have to look forward to?

I mean, can you even imagine a place where everything is good and right, with zero bad vibes?

The Bible does tell us 1 Corinthians 2:9 that "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him." It’s like the best surprise party ever, and we can’t even begin to guess how epic it’s going to be!

So, does everyone have a “little town” or “city” in heaven? Maybe. But the real vibe is that heaven is about being in God’s presence, surrounded by His love and glory forever. So, while we don't know every detail, we do know it's going to be WAY better than anything we could dream up!

So, what do you think heaven’s going to be like? Drop your thoughts in the comments, and let’s talk about it!

Ok, so our third and final question today comes from another fellow friend of mine, Leah and Leah asks, “How does god see everything all the time?”

Um yaaaaas queen.

You legit read my mind. I wonder this, internally, all the time. Like, when Iʼm having my own “shaky faith moment”— itʼs usually propelled forward by this exact thought.

So, right on. Like, seriously, how does He keep track of ALL of us?

Let’s dive in and unpack this mystery together!

First off, let’s talk about God’s perspective.God is NOT bound by time and space like we are. Like, we’re living in this one moment, one place at a time — but God? He is outside of time. He created time and space, and He’s not limited by them! That means He’s always present, always watching, always knowing what’s going on, and it’s not too much for Him to handle.

Here’s the truth from Scripture:

  1. God is everywhere — Like, literally everywhere. Psalm 139:7-10 says, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.” God is in all places, at all times. He is omnipresent—He’s never too far away from anyone! That means He’s with you wherever you go, whether you're at school, chilling with friends, or just hanging out at home.

  2. God is all-knowing (He sees EVERYTHING) He is OMNISCIENT — 1 John 3:20 tells us, “God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything.” WHAAAAAT? So not only can God see everyone at once, but He also knows what’s going on in our hearts and minds. All at once. I know, thatʼs like the total mindblow, right? That’s why He’s able to give us wisdom, guidance, and comfort, no matter what we’re going through. It’s like He’s the ultimate “good listener,” always tuned in to us!

God's ways are higher than ours — Isaiah 55:8-9 says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways… as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Our human minds can’t even fully comprehend how God does it — it’s one of those things that blows our minds because He’s so much bigger and more powerful than anything we could possible imagine.

But that’s okay!!

We can trust that He knows what He’s doing and that He’s got it covered!

How does this help you today? It means that even though we can’t fully understand it, we can trust God to always be there for us, watching over us, and knowing what’s best for us.

When you pray, God hears you. When you’re having a rough day, God sees you. He’s not missing a thing! He’s like the best friend who’s never too far away, always rooting for you and cheering you on!

Wanna know a fun thought?

Imagine God is like this supercool superpower who’s got the best "wifi signal" ever.

He’s able to stay connected to everyone, everywhere, all at once. He’s the ultimate multitasker and still has time to show you love and care — like, what?! How cool is that?

So, does that answer how God can see everyone at once?

Yes!

And No, and thatʼs ok.

Because we’re still learning and God is way bigger than we can imagine.

Now, because Iʼm not 1000000% fully satisfied with the answer I gave you for question number three, but also because I want YOU to go and explore this a little more on your own, I want to leave you with a few final thoughts…

Godʼs omniscience means that His knowledge is infinite and all-encompassing.

He sees everything, knows everything, and understands things far beyond our comprehension.

Tonight, I want you to take a few minutes in your Bible. I want you to explore Psalm 147:5 that talks about Godʼs mighty power and His ultimate understanding. I also want you to explore Isaiah 46:9-10 that unpacks Godʼs purposes unfolding according to his will.

Finally, I want you to think about how God’s Knowledge is a Source of Comfort, Not a source of fear. The fact that God sees everything is not meant to be terrifying, but rather comforting. It means He is fully aware of our struggles, fears, and joys, and He cares for us deeply in every circumstance.

In Romans 8:28 we read, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” God’s ability to see everything is a sign of His care, love, and sovereignty. It’s not just about knowledge; it’s about a relationship.

Even when we feel lost or confused, God’s omniscience ensures that He is always working for our good. His knowledge and presence give us assurance that He is in control.

So, How about you? What do you think about how God can see and hear us all at once? Drop your thoughts in the comments or share them with us on social! Let’s keep the convo going!

Ok thatʼs all for this episode. As always, thanks for joining me today. Itʼs been a real hoot!

Another shout out to Abby, Delilah and Leah for writing in, and until next time, stay salty, sis!
