Hey hey, beautiful girls!
Welcome to the very first episode of our Armor of God series—and let me just say, we are about to go on a journey that is powerful, eye-opening, and totally worth your earbuds!
But before we start chatting about helmets and shields and all the cool stuff, we’ve gotta talk about why God is even handing out armor in the first place. Like, are we secretly in a video game or something?
Are we going into battle?
Um… kinda.
But not the kind with dragons or dodgeballs!
Here’s the thing no one really tells you: we are in a real-life battle every single day. Not one you can see with your eyes or hear with your ears. This isn’t about that girl giving you side-eyes in the hallway, or the way you sometimes feel not good enough when you scroll through Instagram.
Nope.
Ephesians 6:12 tells us the actual fight is happening behind the scenes—in a place the Bible calls the “spiritual realm.” Sounds kinda sci-fi, right? But it’s real.
Like really real.
Now, yes, there is obviously the world that you can touch—your phone, your BFFs, pizza (yes please)—but there is also the world that you cannot touch or experience with your 5 senses - and thatʼs spiritual world, or the spiritual realm - where things happen that affect our lives but don’t show up in our Snapchat stories.
And guess what?
The enemy—yep, we’re talking about Satan—he loves to sneak around in that invisible realm and play mind games with us. He’s not out here body-slamming people.
Oh no, his style is way sneakier.
Think: lies, confusion, and little whispers that make you doubt what you know is true.
Kinda like when Eve got tricked in the garden.
Satan didn’t force her to do anything—he just twisted the truth a little, and boom. She made the wrong choice on her own. That’s what makes him dangerous. Sometimes we end up being our own worst enemies—without him even lifting a finger. That’s why we’ve got to stay alert and learn how to fight smart. Stand firm as the Bible likes to say.
And that, my sweet friends, is exactly where the armor comes in.
God’s not sending us into this wild life without protection—He’s actually giving us His armor.
And, it’s not just cute accessories—it’s got power.
Okay girls, listen up—this part is super cool!
Did you know the Armor of God actually comes in two kinds?
Yep!
You can think of it like this: Some pieces you wear all the time—like your everyday outfit.
Other pieces you pick up when you need them—like special tools for battle.
Let’s break it down:
The “Always-On” Armor
These are the first three pieces:
Belt of Truth
Breastplate of Righteousness
Shoes of Peace
These are part of who you are. The Bible talks about these using “to be” language—like “having” or “wearing.” That means these pieces are always on, kind of like your favorite outfit you never take off. You don’t grab them last-minute—you already have them on!
It’s like the Bible is saying:
You ARE wearing the belt of truth.
You ARE protected by the breastplate of righteousness.
You ARE ready with the shoes of peace.
These help you stand strong every single day.
The “Pick-Up-When-You-Need-It” Armor
Then there are the next three:
Shield of Faith
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of the Spirit (God’s Word)
These are your battle tools. The Bible uses “take up” for these—which means you grab them when you face something tough.
So when you're feeling scared, confused, or attacked by lies—that’s when you take up your shield, helmet, and sword!
So remember:
Some armor you wear always (truth, righteousness, peace).
Some armor you pick up when needed (faith, salvation, God’s Word).
Cool, right? You're basically a warrior for God—and you’ve got everything you need!
Would you like a simple visual or graphic to go with this?
So think of it like this: a softball player is always in uniform, right? But when it’s time to swing, she picks up her bat. That’s you, girl! You stay suited up, and when the moment calls for it—you take up your faith, you guard your mind, and you swing that sword (aka the Word of God) like a boss.
Girls, the fight isn’t really with people—it’s not your annoying classmate, your mom when she seems unfair, or even your own bad moods. The real fight is happening in an invisible place, the spiritual realm. That’s where the enemy is stirring things up to make life feel harder. So when something seems “off” in your world, it's wise to pause and ask: what’s really going on here? Is this just about feelings—or is it spiritual?
2 Corinthians 10:3–5 – Gives us the Strategy Shift. If you have your bibles turn with me there. It reads:
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with...have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God..."
So, we don’t fight our battles the same way the world does. When you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or insecure, the solution isn't always a new outfit, a better selfie, or even just venting to your bestie. God gives us spiritual weapons—like prayer, truth, and faith—to break down the invisible lies that hold us back.
That drama or struggle?
It might have a spiritual stronghold behind it.
Letʼs look at some more scripture: In Matthew 16:23 we see that even Peter Missed It - we read:
"Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.’"
How do we explain this?
Whoa—Jesus called Peter, His close friend, “Satan”? Not because Peter was Satan, but because Satan was influencing Peter’s thinking without him even knowing.
This shows that sometimes people can say or do things that feel hurtful, but the root isn’t the person—it’s the enemy whispering lies or confusion behind the scenes.
1 Peter 5:8–9 we are told to stay aware - it says:
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
How to explain it: We’ve got to keep our spiritual eyes open.
The enemy is sneaky. He’s not always dramatic—he’s subtle. He’ll stir up comparison, insecurity, jealousy, fear... and if we’re not paying attention, we’ll think those are just normal feelings. But God’s saying: watch out. There's a bigger picture. Look deeper.
Sis, when something feels off on the outside—stop and look inward and upward.
What’s happening in my heart?
What does God’s truth say?
Could the enemy be trying to mess with my joy or peace?
Don’t just treat the symptom—get to the source!
OK, letʼs make this even simpler than we already have, are you ready:
The spiritual realm is where:
God speaks to your heart
The Holy Spirit guides you
Angels are sent to protect and minister to you
AND—it’s where spiritual warfare happens
The real battle is invisible. It happens in your thoughts, your beliefs, your heart, and in the realm you can’t touch—but totally experience.
And how can we sense this spiritual realm?
You were created with 5 physical senses—and when it comes to identifying this realm, they can often act like spiritual clues. So let’s break it down:
First, Hearing:
Sometimes you hear voices in your head. Not out loud, but thoughts that whisper things like:
“You’re not good enough.”“Everyone’s laughing at you.”“Why even pray? God’s not listening.”
Those thoughts don’t come from God.
They’re sneak-attacks from the enemy, trying to make you doubt your identity and distance you from God.
John 10:10 —“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Satan is a thief. And most of the time? He doesn’t attack with dragons or demons.
He attacks with thoughts. Lies. Doubt.
Second, Feelings:
Ever walk into a room and just feel…off? Heavy?Maybe you’re around gossip, or jealousy, or someone’s deep sadness.
You didn’t see anything.
You just felt it.
That’s your spirit picking up on the spiritual atmosphere.
The Holy Spirit might be nudging you to pray, or to leave, or to speak truth.
Third, Seeing:
Sometimes things look fine on the surface. That girl seems super confident, but inside? She’s hurting. That show looks funny, but the messages twist God’s truth.
1 Samuel 16:7 —“People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
God sees the truth beneath the surface—and He wants to train you to see it, too.
So why does all of this matter? This is super important babe.
Because if you don’t know there’s a spiritual realm, you’ll:
Fight the wrong battles
Believe the wrong lies
Miss the real weapons God gave you
You’ll start thinking:
“I’m just emotional.”“I’m overthinking it.”“Something’s wrong with me.”
When actually, something’s trying to attack you—and God has given you the armor to fight back.
But don’t be afraid—be aware.
You don’t have to walk around scared of the spiritual realm. You just need to be awake.
1 Peter 5:8 —“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
But here’s the good news:
James 4:7 —“Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Yes—the enemy is real.Yes—the spiritual realm is active. But also yes—you have authority in Jesus.
Okay girls, now that we’ve talked all about the invisible world we can’t see, let’s jump into our very first piece of armor—the Belt of Truth!
So Imagine this—you’re headed on a family vacation. Let’s say you’re going to Europe, or maybe surfing in California, or road tripping up the coast to the Golden Gate Bridge. Wherever you're headed—before you go, what do you do?
You pack. You prepare.
You check the weather.
You Google what to wear.
Because where you’re going determines what you bring.
Well guess what? Just like that family vacation, youʼre also headed into a spiritual battle every single day.
And God already told you what to wear!
It’s all in Ephesians 6.
And whatʼs funny is, he actually tells you that you need to put on the FULL ARMOR. Do you get that? Like, just some of it wonʼt cut it. You need all 6 pieces! Isnʼt that fascinating? Anyway…Ephesians 6:11 reads:
“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”— Ephesians 6:11
This isn’t just cute Christian girl talk.
This is God saying: “You’re walking into a war zone. Don’t forget your gear.”
The belt of truth.
Sounds simple, right? A belt? But this belt is not about fashion. It’s about function.
In Bible times, warriors wore long robes or tunics even. And before they could even move, they had to cinch that robe up with a belt—so it wouldn’t trip them up or get in their way—and to hold their weapons. In totality, the belt held everything together.
And without the belt? Everything falls apart.
And that’s exactly what Satan wants. He wants your thoughts, your faith, your confidence, your friendships—all of it—to just… unravel. Like when you believe one lie, and suddenly everything feels like it’s falling apart?
Yeah. That’s what happens when the belt is missing.
SO WHAT IS TRUTH, REALLY?
Let’s get clear:
Truth is God’s view of any matter.
Not your emotions. Not social media. Not what your favorite YouTuber says.Truth isn’t your truth, my truth, his truth, or TikTok truth.
One of the trickiest things about the world you’re growing up in is this—Satan is trying to twist the truth. Like, big time. He wants everyone to believe that “your truth is your truth” and “my truth is mine”—like truth is just something you make up. Itʼs all relative. And what can be true one minute, may not be true the next. But girl, that’s totally upside down. The Bible? It’s super clear: there’s one truth, and it comes from God.
Period.
Truth is what God says. And here’s the kicker: God’s truth doesn’t change—even if your feelings do. Iʼm gonna say that one again sis… Godʼs truth doesnʼt change - even if your feelings do.
John 17:17 — “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.”
Psalm 119:160 — “The sum of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous rules endures forever.”
God’s Word is truth.
Truth is solid.
Unchanging.
And Powerful.
It’s not just facts and Bible verses—it’s God’s original intent.
TRUTH HOLDS IT ALL TOGETHER
So here’s what the Belt of Truth really does:
It holds your identity together when the world wants to twist it.
It keeps your thoughts from running wild with lies and insecurities.
It gives you a filter—so when the world whispers something, you can say: “Wait, does this match what GOD says?”
Because here’s the thing: Satan doesn’t mind if you mix a little truth with a bunch of lies. He knows that confused truth is just as dangerous as a complete lie.
And if he can get you to believe a twisted version of the truth, you won’t even know your belt is missing.
So real quickly, I want to dive into 3 BIG TRUTHS ABOUT… TRUTH:
Truth is the absolute standard by which everything else is measured.
It includes facts and information, but also God’s intention behind it.
Truth has already been decided—by God.
You don’t get to “make your truth.” It’s not Build-a-Belief Workshop.
God wrote truth before you were born.
What’s true on the inside needs to match the outside.
You can say you believe truth—but does your life show it?
That’s where the belt comes in. It keeps your walk tight and your mind clear.
So today I want to leave you with one thought to ponder…
Are you living buckled up in truth?
Or are you walking around with a loose, floppy, falling-down spiritual outfit because you’re not really holding on to God’s Word?
Challenge of the Day:
Write down one lie you’ve believed about yourself. Now find one verse that tells you what’s actually TRUE. Say it out loud. Tape it on your mirror. Declare it every time the lie comes back.
Because girl, truth doesn’t just defeat lies. It holds your whole life together.
Letʼs remember Ephesians 6:14 as we go about the next couple of days; let it really penetrate our hearts! “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.”
Babe, You are smart.
You are strong.
You are spiritually stylish.
And today?
You just put on your very first piece of armor!!!
Next week we’re diving into the Breastplate of Righteousness—and why it’s absolutely vital to protect your heart in this battle.
Until then: Know the truth. Speak the truth. Live the truth.
Stay strong. Stay sparkly. And I’ll see you next time.
